2018 Staff Engagement Day
In 2018, Dean McLaughlin held a second Staff Engagement Day, which focused more on functional areas. Breakout sessions were centered around roles and functions, as opposed to a School or Department. The staff engagement survey from 2017 was repeated, and will be utilized again at various points moving forward.
In addition to providing a unique opportunity for CoE staff colleagues to convene, network, and collaborate, the CoE Staff Engagement Day is focused on generating workable, realistic recommendations for how to improve efficiency in the College, and above all, the quality of the employee experience. Many of the more recent initiatives or programs that have launched in the College owe their origins to the CoE Staff Engagement Day.
2017 Staff Engagement Day
Shortly after being named Dean of the College of Engineering (CoE), Dean McLaughlin held the first-ever CoE Staff Engagement Day in November 2017. The program was facilitated by Georgia Tech’s Office of Strategic Consulting, and was preceded by a College-wide survey that gauged the culture of CoE and employee perspectives. The program featured a morning session where results of the survey were revealed, as well as a general discussion focused on exploring staff issues across the College. In the afternoon, staff members broke out into sessions with their respective Schools, identifying strategies to improve the staff experience.
